Fold an 11×17 for Automation

Following is step-by-step example of the “correct” way to fold an 11″x17″ sheet to be automation compatible. When the open edge occurs at the top of the self-mailer, two tabs are required to seal this edge. By designing your newsletters in the format, you can save approximately $.05 per piece on postage. Our folding equipment can make both folds in a single pass, saving you additional time and money on your next project.

Step 1

Looking at the address panel, fold right side of sheet behind left side. Final size will now be 8.5″ tall by 11″ wide.

Step 2

Looking at the address panel, fold the bottom half behind top panel. Final size should now measure 8.5″ wide by 5.5″ tall.

Step 3

After both folds are made, mailpiece should measure 8.5″ by 5.5″ and have closed (folded) edges on the right side and bottom edge, when looking at the address panel.

Step 4

We will apply two tab closures and a barcode to the final mailpiece. Now it is automation compatible, saving you approximately $.05 per piece in postage.
