Install an Adobe .joboptions File

How to Install an Adobe .joboptions File

First, you need a .joboptions file. If you need one of our .joboptions files, you can get them here (right-click the link and Save As…):

Once you have a .joboptions file that you want to install, you can proceed with the installation process for the particular software that you have installed.

 

Adobe PDF Printer/Acrobat Distiller:

Try this option first (if you have Acrobat Distiller) because it will install the .joboptions for InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

If you have the Adobe PDF printer, then you must have Acrobat Distiller.

  1. Open Acrobat Distiller
  2. Drag and drop the .joboptions file onto the Distiller window

OR

  1. Open Acrobat Distiller.
  2. Click Settings and Add Adobe PDF Settings…
  3. Locate the .joboptions file that you want to install, click on it, and then click Open.
  4. Close Acrobat Distiller.

Now the .joboptions that you just added should be available in any application (in the Adobe PDF printer’s settings) when printing to the Adobe PDF printer.

 

Adobe InDesign:

  1. Open InDesign (you don’t need to have an open document).
  2. Click File, Adobe PDF Presets, Define…
  3. In the Adobe PDF Presets window, click Load…
  4. Locate the .joboptions file that you want to install, click on it, and then click Open.
  5. Click Done.

Now the .joboptions that you just added should be available in InDesign as a PDF preset in the Adobe PDF Presets menu and under the Export Adobe PDF window.

 

Adobe Photoshop:

  1. Open Photoshop (you don’t need to have an open document).
  2. Click Edit, Adobe PDF Presets.
  3. In the Adobe PDF Presets window, click Load…
  4. Locate the .joboptions file that you want to install, click on it, and then click Open.
  5. Click Done.

Now the .joboptions that you just added should be available in Photoshop as a PDF preset when you create a PDF using FileSave As… Photoshop PDF.

 

Adobe Illustrator:

  1. Open Illustrator (you don’t need to have an open document).
  2. Click Edit, Adobe PDF Presets.
  3. In the Adobe PDF Presets window, click Import…
  4. Locate the .joboptions file that you want to install, click on it, and then click Open.
  5. Click OK on the Adobe PDF Presents window.

Now the .joboptions that you just added should be available in Illustrator as a PDF preset when you create a PDF using FileSave As… Adobe PDF.
